William A. Hadbavny, 95, of Claridge, passed away on Thursday, April 20, 2023. He was born November 20, 1927, in Braddock, a son of the late Matthew and Anna (Marton) Hadbavny.
Bill was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Irwin, a graduate of Braddock High School, and the University of Pittsburgh. He was a Navy veteran serving on PSC 1403, receiving the WWII Victory Medal. He worked as a technical specialist for over 30 years at WABCO, Wilmerding, and was a member of Braddock Fields Lodge No. 510, and Infinity Lodge No.546, F&AM, Penn Hills.
Bro. Frank Comunale, III, 91 of Marienville, formerly of Churchill, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 24, 2023.
Frank honorably served in the US Navy as a Third Class Radio Operator for eight years. Following his military service he ran heavy equipment for Frank Randolph Excavating and went on to begin his career as a security guard for Westinghouse R & D Center where he retired after 32 years of service. During his time at Westinghouse, he worked part-time as a Churchill Borough Police Officer from 1960-1978. Frank served as Mayor of Churchill Borough for 10 years and also was the President of the PA State Mayors Association for three and a half years. From 1988-2001 Frank served his community as District Court Judge of Allegheny County until his retirement at age 70, and then as Senior District Judge of Allegheny County retiring at age 75. In his downtime, he enjoyed spending time outdoors, especially hunting, fishing, and skeet shooting with his family.
Robert Donald Yoder , 74 of Monroeville, passed away on Wednesday, February 22, 2023. He was born on October 3, 1948 to the late Lester and Ruth (Schano) Yoder.
Age 23, of Penn Hills, passed away tragically Sunday, November 27, 2022.
Nick earned the rank of Eagle Scout where he developed his love for first aid. He was a 2017 graduate of Penn Hills High School. He started his EMT training in high school and finished with the rank of Paramedic. While in high school, Nick was a member of the Naval ROTC and a volunteer firefighter for Rosedale Fire Department #222 in Penn Hills. He was a Certified Lifeguard and CPR Instructor. He was in the process of becoming a Master Mason. Nick worked in various restaurants over his years and made himself at home anywhere he went. He always made himself available to anybody that needed his help. To know Nick was to love Nick.
H. Ronald Harr, 78, of Latrobe, passed away Friday, November 18, 2022 at Forbes Regional Hospital, Monroeville. Born on August 29, 1944 in Latrobe, he was a son of the late Harry T. Harr and Thelma (Gibson) Harr.
Ron was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Latrobe. Prior to his retirement, he had been employed as a senior engineer at Kennametal with 39 years of service. He was a member of Infinity Lodge No. 546 F.& A.M., Monroeville. Ron was a member and certified inspector for the National Hot Rod Association and enjoyed attending races with his best friend, Tom Blair. He also enjoyed cars, and boating at Raystown Lake.
State Representative Anthony (Tony) DeLuca on Sunday, October 9, 2022, was called to his Heavenly home, where he was reunited with his beautiful wife, Connie of 66 years. His legacy is one of strong and protected love of his family and of a deep commitment to the constituents of Penn Hills, Verona, Plum, and Blawnox whom he proudly served for 38 years.
Tony was a proud native of East Liberty and his Italian heritage and was a co-founder and eventual longtime chairman of the State Legislative Italian-American caucus. Along with his father and brother, he operated DeLuca's Meat Market famous for its hot sausage. Prior to being elected to the House of Representatives, he served his beloved Penn Hills as councilman and Deputy Mayor. His annual summer picnic was not to be missed and was attended by thousands. Tony believed in treating all fairly with respect and compassion. He loved his family and his country and will be truly missed.
Ronald Wayne Corman, age 81, of Fort Myers, FL, died on Wednesday, October 5, 2022. He was born in McKeesport, PA on July 4, 1941 and is the son of the late Harry O. and Martha Louise Hunter Corman. He graduated from Duquesne High School and attended Waynesburg University and the University of Pittsburgh. Ronald proudly served in the United States Army and was awarded the Good Conduct Medal as a Sharpshooter. After serving in the United States Army, he retired from CSX after 32 years as a Locomotive Engineer. He was a member of numerous organizations including, the General Smedley D. Butler Post 701 White Oak American Legion; Braddock Elks Lodge No. 883; Free and Accepted Masons of Pennsylvania Infinity Lodge No. 546 in Penn Hills; Shriners International; Moose General Assembly Lodge No. 3000; Boston Vets Club; GBU in Duquesne; and the McKeesport Sportsmen’s Association.
Bro. John L. Leavy, a 70 year member of our Lodge, Age 96, of Murrysville, formerly of Penn Hills, passed peacefully on January 5, 2022.
Jack was retired after working for General Motors AC-Delco Division for 35 years. He was a 70-year member of Infinity Lodge No. 546 F&AM. Jack was a proud member of Syria Shrine Temple, where he served as Potentate in 1993, was a member of the Legion of Honor, Honorary Life-Member of the Harige Unit, Hillbilly Clan #53, Penn Hills Caravan #20, and the Shrine Circus Committee
Jack is a World War II Veteran, where he served as a Pharmacist Mate in the United States Navy. He loved family get togethers, dogs, playing cards, cars, circuses, and always had a witty response for any comments.
The Honorable Bro. Maurice Blanchard Cohill, Jr. passed away on Saturday January 1, 2022 at the age of 92. Born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Cohill received an Artium Baccalaureus degree from Princeton University in 1951 and a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law in 1956. He was a captain in the United States Marine Corps from 1951 to 1953.
On May 4, 1976, Cohill was nominated by President Gerald Ford to a seat on the United States District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania vacated by Judge Louis Rosenberg. Cohill was confirmed by the United States Senate on May 18, 1976, and received his commission on May 21, 1976. He served as Chief Judge from 1985 to 1992 and assumed senior status on November 28, 1994.
Bro. Harry G. Eichenmiller, age 87, of Penn Hills, on Saturday, August 20, 2022. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints; and a past Master of William Penn Lodge #766, member of Penn Brotherhood Lodge #635, and Infinity Lodge #546. He also served as a Boy Scout and Girl Scout leader, and was former active member of Laketon Heights United Methodist Church, and United Presbyterian Church of Universal.
Robert Gerard Allen, 69, of Murrysville, passed away peacefully, with his family by his side, on Monday, July 18th, 2022. Born in Hampton, Pennsylvania, Robert was the son of the late Bruce and Dorothy Allen and brother of the late Bruce Allen. Robert was happiest when he was with his family and friends and was lovingly referred to as Uncle Bear.
A passionate outdoorsman, Robert spent much of his life hunting and fishing and had a particular fondness for North East, PA where he spent summers at Dohler’s Cottages for over 60 years. Robert was a proud native of Pittsburgh and lifelong supporter of the Steelers and Panthers, having attended Pitt for college. He spent much of his professional life in the insurance industry with Mutual Inspection Bureau, of Harrisburg, and made many close friends in the industry. Robert was also actively involved in the Freemasons where he was a Master of the Forbes Trail Lodge and active member of our Lodge.
Edward C. Hoover, 92, passed away on May 14, 2022. The love of his life, wife Mary Jane Hoover, 91, passed away just three weeks later on June 4, 2022. They adored each other and had a beautiful, loving marriage that lasted for 69 years.
Ed graduated in 1952 from Penn State where he played football. He served in the military from 1952 - 1954 and was honorably discharged as a First Lieutenant. He attended Shippensburg State College then earned his Master’s in Education and his Guidance Certificate from Duquesne University in 1960, later earning his Secondary Principal Cert.. Ed worked for the P.H. School District from 1955 - 1991, as a Social Studies Teacher, Guidance Counselor, Vice Principal and ended his career as Principal of P.H.S.H.S. Ed’s sole hobby was helping others, and the list of his volunteer activities is numerous, including church activities and committees, as a member of Kiwanis Club, Meals on Wheels and serving as President of the P.H. Service Assoc. 1991 - 2020.
Bro. Ewing "Ben" Swaney, age 83, of Monroeville, passed away on Thursday, May 13, 2021. Born on April 29, 1938, he was the son of the late Benjamin and Thelma (Heinbaugh) Swaney, and the loving husband of Lois (Luffee) Swaney. Ben served our country with the United States Army, before spending his working years as a laborer. Ben was a member of the Infinity Masonic Lodge #546 and will always be remembered as being a hard worker, and someone who would do anything for anyone.
